The August 8th protest, following the Beirut Blast witnessed some of the most intense confrontations with the army and police ever since the revolution started. It had been less than a week since we lost our homes and loved ones, our city was blown up; protesting was like second nature to us. However, the government met us with an enormous amount of tear gas, aiming straight at us with live, and rubber bullets. This pile of tear gas canisters was one of many. It was only while walking through battleground the next morning that I was able to realize the gravity of the brutality we faced. #HarperCollins #policebrutality Haithham Dinnawi Beirut, Lebanon
