Daydreams (2021) is a self-portrait expressing the ancestral longing and self-love I experience as a dyke of the Hmong diaspora. In this digital illustration, I depict myself in everyday American and Hmong clothing. The person in the mirror hugs themselves in the mountains of Southeast Asia, becoming a pillar of strength to the person outside of the mirror – the person I am in the United States.
