Maiden Tower / Istanbul Many legends have circulated for the maiden's tower from ear to ear. According to the prophecy, The King is told that his beloved daughter will be stung by a snake when she turns 18. On this prophecy, The King builds a tower in the middle of the sea and places the princess here. However, a snake coming out of a basket of grapes sent to the tower causes the death of its Princess. The king built his daughter an iron coffin and placed it above the entrance door of Hagia Sophia. Rumors that the snake did not leave the princess alone after her death have survived to this day. Because it is still said that there are two holes on this coffin.
