I took these photographs on carnival day, in the town of San Martín Tilcajete, which is located in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. This carnival has years of tradition where the inhabitants smear oil on their bodies and some wear devil masks with wood carvings. This town is famous for the creation of alebrijes, finely carved figures in wood, this town along with its alebrijes was one of the inspirations for the making of the animated film Coco
