The Mannara Dog or Sicilian shepherd’s dog is an ancient dog of Sicily employed to guard the flocks and the farm. It is a very old dog whose origins seem to date back to the Bronze Age. It is a dog resistant to diseases and thermal changes typical of Sicily, perfectly adapted to the life of the Sicilian countryside. In the Sicilian language it is called "can' 'i mànnira" and is often used as a comparison to describe the aggressiveness of an individual.
