The story begins from the silent city, citizens here never talk about dreams, colors, or music, just repeating their tedious daily routines, day after days. But the little girl can hear “the calling”, a beautiful melody comes from far away, which gradually becomes her motivation to explore the world. She decides to depart, following the footprints of the calling. Along the journey, she encounters numerous unexpected situations, arriving to various surreal places which stand for different stages of her life as well as complex problems she has to face. Eventually, the girl disappointedly finds out the mesmerizing melody just came from an old phonograph abandoned in the barren blue desert. The vast ocean where the singing mermaids live had never existed. As the long journey draws to an end, she decides to record her own voice in the phonograph, the story will be continued.
