San Vicente del Caguán - Caqueta - Colombia
If women had been in power on the 7th of January, 1999, when the FARC peace negotiations were happening in the town of San Vicente del Caguán, we wouldn't have had an empty chair. The event known today as 'La Silla Vacía' or the 'Empty Chair' in English, wouldn't have taken place. The negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC guerrilla would have unfolded quite differently. With women in key positions of leadership, the peace talks would have been infused with a unique approach—one that prioritized empathy, diplomacy, and long-term reconciliation over military tactics.
