New York - New York - United States
NYC's subways take center stage when it comes to public transportation. They are, for better or worse, iconic and emblematic of the New York City experience. Then there are the buses -- an unheralded option of last resort for most New Yorkers, as buses are subject the hassles of sharing the road with all the City's other vehicles, despite buses having their own lanes. And then there is the Roosevelt Island Tram. The tram only takes riders from Midtown Manhattan to the somewhat isolated locale of Roosevelt Island. It's a brief but lovely trip with a spectacular view over the East River. Yes, you can take the subway to Roosevelt Island, but I opt for the tram 100% of the time.
