New York - New York - United States
Black lives protest in NY. An Asian lady holding up a George Floyd placard in Union Square, New York as part of the BLM protest 2020 #Harpercollins I took this image to capture the heartbeat of that moment in time in 2020 when the streets were rife with Black Lives Matter protests by New yorkers from different walks of life, calling out the injustices against Black Americans and demanding change to protect and honor black lives. To me, it was interesting that all this was happening in 2020, because 2020 helped me have a renewed outlook on life: to appreciate loved ones, friendships, and humanity, to recognize how we take for granted the simple freedoms we have in life, and to stand up and help one another. A few months down the line, in 2021, fresh protests were held to highlight the violence against Asian Americans and were held in Union Square once again to demand justice and the protection of Asian Americans. “Divided we fall. United we stand"
