Quito - Pichincha - Ecuador
I took this picture on Sunday, March 8, 2020, it was a massive mobilization of women in the streets of Quito, Ecuador. During the whole day we wondered if the COVID-19 pandemic had already arrived or not to our country, this still seemed unreal, after a few days the restrictions began. In the picture we see a young woman who belongs to the collective of Amazonian Women, formed by women from different indigenous communities of Ecuador. They fight for the defense of their territories, nature, against extractive activities and against violence. At that moment we were listening to the words of another indigenous woman and I was deeply moved by the concentration and look of this young woman. As a woman and feminist photographer, I intentionally look at the stories of other women, strong, diverse, fighters, because I am convinced that only we can change what is wrong in this world. #Harpercollins
