Wildlife Portrait Seal Rocky Shore

During a research trip to the San Benito Islands we saw this entangled female California sea lion. The net had been constricting her neck as she grew up. If the net stays there, she will inevitably loose her life, so it was extremely unfortunate that we were neither equipped nor able to reach her to remove the cords.
