Melbourne Lockdown 2020 4.0 That day I turned up to take a lockdown portrait of my friend Jacquie was the first time she was not up for it. It looked like she was going to shut the door on me. As a Kiwi living in Oz she did no know if she would have any financial support from the Australian Government. She was not permitted to have students in her beloved studio we danced and photographed so many times before. She didn't even have the money to pay the studio rent. She was angry, sad and trying to set up her online class. She spent months dancing in front of her little laptop screen, keeping her students moving, giving them the incredible support she always does. At one stage she we not even allowed to go in her studio. She and her business partner continued teaching from their living rooms. With husbands, kids and pets in the background. Their students came right back in as soon as the studio was allowed to reopen. But the stress and non stop work with no time to actually let herself go and dance took it's tall...
