Sweden - Stockholm County - Stockholm
This picture was taken starting the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. I remember that suddenly, while I was in the office doing my internship as photographer, my boss came up to me with the rest of the team to tell us to go home, that it started a big situation worldwide. Just so you all know, I'm a 22 year old women, I have traveled far from home alone, from (Venezuela) to Sweden just to do an internship looking for opportunities and the pandemic started... So when my boss told me about this, I didn't know what to say or do. As you can imagine I was stuck in another country, different culture, different language, etc. No way to travel back home or any nearest country with family or friends. After this day, I remember that first month in Stockholm, people were scared and you didn't see anyone in the streets, I wanted to capture this because it was very shocking to see an empty city. Sweden has a bad reputation for its pandemic actions but what I have learned is that people still conscious, perhaps swedes never did a proper quarantine or never used a face mask. But, social distancing is a thing.. Or was, I will leave this topic on a side, but walking back to my Airbnb, after taking some pictures in the city, I just found two little girls playing but doing the social distancing. It made me have mixed feelings. I felt sad and happy, I guess it is sad because we lost contact with our most beloved ones, but also was really motivational and beautiful, they were taking care of each other, and I though "Sometimes love it is not visible at it is, sometimes it is just different". #HARPERCOLLINS
