Frontier City was built in 1959 by Ivan Hunt and Maynard Minier of Onsted to capitalize on the popularity of TV westerns. Frontier City had bad guys, who tried to rob the bank at least six times a day but were foiled each time by the marshal. There were stagecoach rides, a picnic area, a paddle-wheel steamboat, a mock gold mine, deer, baby farm animals, buffalo, Longhorn steers, peacocks, a giant slide and a western town that included a jail, livery stable, bank, general store and Longhorn Saloon.
