view of the castle at night Bruck Castle is located in southern East Tyrol in the urban area of the district capital Lienz. It is built on a hilltop that nestles against Lienz's local mountain, Hochstein. The castle was the residence of the Counts of Gorizia from around 1278 to 1500 and has a castle chapel with frescoes by Simon von Taisten. Since 1943 it has served as a museum for the town of Lienz.
