Growing up in Catskill

I grew up surrounded by the Catskill mountains in a small and secluded town. I left the area with a resentment towards the place I grew up; everyone was closed minded, the landscapes didn't excite me, and there was no where I could thrive. I lost all attachment when my parents moved. I didn't visit the surrounding areas of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley until my adulthood and my perception of the area I called home shifted. I found myself drawn to the small towns and a strong drive to plant roots there. A few weeks ago, I spent time visiting these towns with my partner and envisioned ourselves calling one of them home one day. - Jenna Petrone Hudson and Catskill, NY
